Hednesford take on the Skrill North division’s other in-form side tomorrow in a crunch play-off clash.
Hednesford and opponents Guiseley have both won four and drawn one of their last five games and have been in sensational form cementing places in the play-offs. Both have an outside chance of finishing in an automatic promotion spot.
The Pitmen will be looking to build on last week’s 2-1 victory against Gainsborough Trinity and take confidence into what is arguably the biggest game of the season.
The Pitmen sit one point and one place above of tomorrow’s Yorkshire rivals. With both sides even having nearly identical goal differences of +17 and +18 going into tomorrow’s game.
Guiseley star man is Alex Johnson who has scored nine goals in 23 appearances for the Lions including six in his last five games. Former Leeds United trainee Gavin Rothery is also in good form this season scoring twelve goals in thirty-five games from midfield and will need to be watched closely by the Hednesford midfield.
A win for Hednesford could see them climb into third position and create a seven point gap in the play-offs with three games to go. This would basically secure a play-off spot going into the end of season lottery.
This would create a dream season for the Staffordshire club that only came up through the play-offs last season. In the reverse fixture earlier in the season at Nethermoor Park, Hednesford won 2-1.
Hednesford striker Charlie Anagho-Ntamark said: “Tomorrow will be tough, they have a decent side and they like to play but they wont be able to pass the ball like us because our pitch isn’t the best so we could use that to our advantage.”
